Jamie graduated from Marsh Valley High School (”Don’t say anything Randy Pitchford!”) and Idaho State University. She and her husband Nick have been married for two years. “I have three awesome kids,” Jamie says, “Shawn, 26, Chase, 19, and Alexis 16. Nick works for the railroad, Shawn is the PGA assistant golf pro at the local courses, Chase is... enjoying not being in high school, and Lexi is a junior at Highland High School.”
Jamie lived in the country most of her life. “I was a little farm girl,” she says, “chasing cows, chickens, and pigs. Okay, maybe I was the prissy little sister - Shelley Brunson will probably agree.” Jamie now lives in Chubbuck. “I can tell you sometimes I miss that peaceful, quiet country living."
Jamie began working at Farm Bureau in 1991 (”When I was still in grade school.”). She found out about the job when she was working at the Department of Labor while attending college. She started in the commercial department where she worked as a coder for one year. She has spent the last 24 years working in the Brokerage Department, 15 of those as the Brokerage Manager. “I love dealing with a variety of different coverages. I learn something new every day. I love my job and love the friendships I have gained working at Farm Bureau."
Jamie enjoys golfing, boating, and snow skiing, and spends most of her spare time running around to her kids’ sporting events. ”Both my boys played basketball, football, and golf in high school. I’m down to my baby girl and she keeps me busy with basketball and golf. She has a killer drive if anyone wants to challenge her to a long drive contest. Of course mama has finally given up an and to accept that I’ll never be able to out drive her again, which is so sad because I’m kind of competitive. Just ask David Acevedo or Lance Smith. One year at the annual Lake Mead trip, Lance decided we should have a beach starting contest - easy for him. So, of course, I couldn’t be the only one to come back to work without being able to beach start. I should’ve offered to drive the boat when it was David or Lance’s turn.”
Jamie says her most hidden talent is playing the piano. “I hated practicing the piano as a little girl. I guess little girls grow up because I love to sit down and play the piano now.”
Her favorite vacation spot is “probably any beach. I could live on the beach just relaxing with friends and family.”
What’s Jamie’s favorite sport to watch? “Hum. I like watching basketball, football, golf, and even baseball. When I’m watching my kids play I’m sure I’m the quietest mother in the bleachers!”
Jamie’s proudest accomplishment was completing her CPCU designation. “When I decided to finish my designation, I had four classes left. I wanted to push myself to be able to attend the designation ceremony in Hawaii, so I had to take two classes a year. I think every test that rolled around I would cry and say, ‘If I don’t pass this test I’m just going to pay for a trip to Hawaii myself.’ Two years later, I had passed the tests and was on my way to Hawaii!”
