Tell us about yourself.
I was born in Ogden, Utah, the third of seven kids. Both parents were in the Army - yes, that’s where I gained my drill sergeant skills. I have lived in Utah, Montana and Idaho during my lifetime. I love Idaho the most. I am married and have one son and one stepdaughter. My husband and I love to travel and have new adventures. We travel on our motorcycle most during the warm months and snowmobile during the winter. This past year I became a grandma; it’s the best thing ever.
What is your best achievement?
I think to this point my greatest achievement would be helping my son achieve his goals. He wanted to be a pilot from the age of seven, and he’s now a pilot flying an F-16 for the Air Force. He, his wife and son are currently stationed in Tuscon, Arizona, so we are racking up the frequent flyer miles.
What is your role at Farm Bureau?
I am the Director of Personal Lines and truly do enjoy my job. I started at Farm Bureau in 1999 as an audit underwriter, moved to a supervisor position, and then to director.
What did you do before coming to Farm Bureau?
I began my insurance career in 1983, working for an agent in Salt Lake while attending school. Who knew my life career would be in the insurance business? I’ve had two other jobs from 1983 to today that were not insurance related, but insurance kept calling me back.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The things I enjoy most about Farm Bureau are the relationships I have formed with coworkers and agents over the years, and the ability we have to help people recover from bad situations.
What are your aspirations in this position?
My goal in this position is to inspire others to be excellent. I believe people can achieve anything they want with the right people believing in them and encouraging them.
What motivates you?
All in all, I enjoy life, try to find the good always, and encourage others to keep their chin up, stay positive, and move forward.
