Tell us about yourself.

I was born in Laredo, Texas, but relocated with my family to Twin Falls, Idaho, when I was about six years old. I was raised in Twin Falls. My parents raised our large family which included me, five sisters and two brothers, along with uncles, aunts, and many cousins. We were a very close family. I graduated from Twin Fall High School and then attended the University of Idaho, from which I graduated in 1982.

After graduating from the University of Idaho, I began a career teaching Social Sciences and coaching basketball. Coaching has been a passion I have continued at all levels for the past 35 years.

When did you start at Farm Bureau?

I started with Farm Bureau on August 1, 1987, 30 years ago.  I was recruited by my former coaches, Jim Bianchi and Ron Boyd, who had been with Farm Bureau about six years. They encouraged my career change by describing the excellent opportunities at Farm Bureau.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy helping my clients address and meet their financial goals. In addition, I greatly appreciate the ability to manage my own work and the flexibility my position allows to care for my family and their many interests.

What are some career highlights?

Through Farm Bureau, I have been able to enjoy one of my greatest interests - travel. Taking care of my clients well has made it possible to visit exciting places around the world such as Italy, Spain, New York, England, Cancun and more.

Tell us about your family.

I have a large family, although not as large as the one I had growing up! My wife and I have four wonderful children; Sevio (22), MiSol (20), Mia (18) and Rio (16). Sevio is currently employed with Axiom as a Sales Representative. MiSol is in her final year at Boise State University and will graduate with a B.S. in Respiratory Care. Mia has just graduated from high school and will attend the College of Western Idaho where she will explore her options - although I think she is a great photographer. Rio is now a sophomore at Sage International, where his IB studies and interest in Cross Country have kept him very busy. My wife, Olga, continues with her career of 24 years at Boise State University where she is an Academic Advisor. We have had a busy life together; it has rarely been boring!

What's your favorite sport?

I love all sports, but my absolute favorite to watch and play is basketball. We have been Boise State University season ticket holders for years and, as a family, try to see as many games as we can. I also enjoy watching high school competition. We have lots of great teams in the Treasure Valley!

Do you have a favorite vacation spot?

Although we love visiting lots of different places, including regular trips to the beach in Florida, my all-time favorite place is Spain. The beauty of the architecture, the coast, and the warmth of the people have all been part of the wonderful experiences each time I have visited. It is also a very family-oriented place, with multi-generational families often gathered outside until late in the evening, enjoying simple things like conversations, ice cream, and music.

Other Farm Bureau memories?

I have many Farm Bureau memories: watching fireworks behind the Statue of Liberty with my wife on our New York trip, raising scholarship funds with Farm Bureau colleagues every year at the Jalapeño Open, watching my clients meet a family or career goal because of the careful planning we implemented. All of these are great examples of favorite memories. And I try to hang on to those memories because the years fly by. We should be able to look back and be happy about what we did and who we helped in the time we had. These are the best memories.

Is there one person you'd like to thank?

I have been very fortunate to have had excellent mentors, colleagues, and friends. I have been blessed by a strong family both growing up and raising my own. It is just impossible to single out one person, but that is a great problem to have!
