According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho has a Complaint Index that’s tough to beat – close to zero.
The Complaint Index is the ratio of a company’s market share of complaints compared to the company’s market share of premiums for specific policy types (or all policies). It can be a useful tool for comparing larger companies to smaller companies.
Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho’s Complaint Index for all policy types in 2018 was .18. For comparison, the 2018 All-Policy National Median Complaint Index was 1.04. The 2018 All-Policy Complaint Index for some nationally known companies were:
-
Allstate: 1.99
-
Farmers Insurance: 1.37
-
State Farm: .99
The NAIC maintains a database where states voluntarily report “closed” complaints. A closed complaint is one that has been investigated and resolved to the satisfaction of the state or jurisdiction where the complaint was filed.
These reports are free to consumers at the NAIC’s website, www.naic.org.
