On Friday, December 20, 2019, at 4:55 PM, BJ Lillibridge received a claim concerning a shop fire. BJ immediately called the insured, Ginny Fisher, who informed BJ that the fire department was still trying to put of the fire.
Ginny and her children were at their home in Kooskia getting ready for Christmas when the fire started. They were in the middle of a major remodel on their home, so the majority of their personal property was stored in their 2,100 square foot shop.
Around noon, her 12-year-old son came running into the house saying the shop was on fire. Ginny ran out with a fire extinguisher to try and put the fire out, but it was too large. They had a Jeep and two Harley-Davidson motorcycles parked inside the shop, and a vehicle parked outside next to the shop. She attempted to move the vehicles out of the way and called 911. Along with most of their household furnishings, they also had all their Christmas presents stored in the shop. The shop and all of its contents were a total loss. By the time the fire department arrived, the building was completely engulfed and the fire department could not get it out.
BJ made the two-hour drive to the Fisher's home the following Monday morning. She was able to provide the insured with an advance payment on their personal property in the amount of $5,000 to help them replace the Christmas presents and other personal items they lost in the fire.
Farm Bureau paid a total of $157,080 in personal property and another $48,219.40 for the three damaged vehicles.
