Senior Claims Representative Annie Deuell will retire on December 31 after 26 years of service to Farm Bureau Insurance.
By Annie Deuell
I began my career with Farm Bureau in January 1993. Jim Beckley, VP of Claims, hired me for a claims examiner position. It was only a short time before I realized I “needed’ to be in the claims field, where the action is! Lowell Howe, the Regional Manager at the time, took a chance on me, and hired me as a field adjuster. I have never looked back. It has been such an exciting and challenging position. I have been so fortunate to meet so many of our wonderful customers and claimants over the years. I have so enjoyed all the coworkers I have been proud to work beside. I have become very close to some of my coworkers. (You know who you are!)
I was very honored to be one of the field adjusters who went to Louisiana to help Farm Bureau in that state settle Hurricane Katrina claims. We were there for three weeks. What an amazing experience and honor that was.
When I began my career at Farm Bureau, we were using carbon paper for claims reporting. I recall buying my own word processor for the office. Others would come to me and ask me to type letters for them. My, how things have changed over the years!
I was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, and my husband, Michael, and I purchased the home I was born and raised in from my parents. We still live in that home today, and Mom and Dad moved only a few door down.
Prior to employment at Farm Bureau Insurance, I worked in the Fabrication and Weld shop at Bucyrus Erie. When my first husband drowned, I moved to Wyoming and was a fork lift operator in an underground mine. This was where I met Michael. We have been married 37 years with no kids. I was employed at Safety Master until the time I stated working at Farm Bureau.
I am looking forward to the next phase of my life. I look forward to enjoying coffee in the mornings in my sunny kitchen with my Mom and my puppy, once I get Michael out the door to work! I'm also looking forward to having more time birdwatching, going to rock concerts and NFL games, walking Abby (the puppy) and hanging out with Mom.
Just this morning, I was wondering: What I will be filling my head since I won’t have work filling it any longer? It will be interesting to see where inventing my new wheel will take me.
I can say I am grateful for my career at Farm Bureau and have always been proud to say that I work for the BEST Insurance Company in Idaho.

-Sherri Condie, Claims Representative, Home Office
I have worked daily with Annie since I started in June of 2007. She has been a great friend and an asset to Farm Bureau. I will miss her smile and her stories of rock concerts and football games. Annie, I wish you Health and Happiness. You will be missed greatly.
