December 12, 2023

Senior Underwriter Cindy Taft will retire on December 29 after 12 years of
dedicated service.
When did you begin working at Farm Bureau?
I began working at Farm Bureau in October of 2011 as an underwriter.
Prior to Farm Bureau, I worked for 20 years in the insurance business for an independent insurance agency.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in the Pocatello / Chubbuck area, and wonder every winter why. I hate winter.
I’ve been married to my husband, Brent, for 20 years and we have three children: Jennifer (Chris), Jeff (Lourdes) and Jake (Megan), two precious grandsons, Tommy and Miles, and one more grandbaby coming March of 2024.
I have to include my super spoiled Shih Tzu, Roxy.
What were some highlights about working for Farm Bureau?
Highlights about working here are the people I’ve met and the relationships built, along with the changes and positive impact I have witnessed.
There are many people who have always been very supportive wether it was work-related or personal items, and I hope they know who there are.
One who sticks out in my mind is Dana Haskett. The first few years I was here, she was always there when I needed her.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I spend most of my weekends and holidays during the summertime at our property in Mackay, entertaining family and friends.
What are your retirement plans?
Hoping to spend more time in Mackay after I’m retired, along with some house and yard projects in addition to traveling to some new places over the next few years.
NOTES FROM CINDY'S COWORKERS
Cindy, it’s been an honor to work with you. I’ve enjoyed all the time we’ve worked together, and you will be sorely missed.
Thank you for sharing your expertise, wise words, and sense of humor with us! You have such a big heart and are such a great support to those around you; you’re a great friend.
You’ve worked hard and you’ve earned this retirement. I hope you have a wonderful time. Roxy will sure appreciate you being home! Keep in contact.
-Hannah Adamson, Personal Lines Underwriter
All I can say is I am ecstatic that these women [underwriters Michelle Corbridge, Melinda Rodriquez, and Cindy Taft] are retiring. Maybe now I can stop having nightmares at night.
From their beginning they have abused, berated, taunted and cursed at me. It has been horrible.
Also Melinda is secretly in love with me and that has been awkward.
I do however wish them the very best.
-Mike Asker, Agent, Grangeville
Cindy came to Farm Bureau after many years of coaxing her to join us; I am so glad she finally did.
You always knew Cindy would be at work by 7:30 at the latest. Her work ethic speaks volumes. Cindy is another person who is always calm and steady and keeps looking forward. Other Underwriters who are learning know they can count on her to help. I always enjoyed checking in with her; you always got a positive comment, never anything negative.
We are losing many years of experience with Cindy - and Melinda, and Michelle.
I wish them all the very best in life, health and happiness.
-Lisa Barber, Vice President of Underwriting
Cindy will be missed greatly in the underwriting department. She has always been welcoming to anyone new. Cindy is probably the most reliable person in the entire department, she is regularly (if not always) the first one here and is willing to help anyone at any time.
Cindy, you have worked hard through the years and your someday is here. I hope you enjoy your retirement and do all the things you couldn’t do while working.
-Erin Giles, Agri-Business Underwriting Manager
I can’t believe it’s time already! We will miss you so much! You are such a caring, thoughtful person, and this team won’t be the same without you.
I hope your retirement is as awesome as you are. You deserve it! Thank you for being an awesome member of this team, and please come by and have lunch with us (I already know your order).
This place will not be the same without you.
-Shannon Simmons, Personal Lines Underwriting Supervisor
Cindy, I am so glad to have had the opportunity to work with you my entire time at Farm Bureau. I have learned so much as an underwriter and as a person from you. I am glad we have had the opportunity to work on the same team for the last few years. I will always cherish our friendship and memories together. I will miss working with you dearly. I am not sure who will enjoy their days more, you or Roxy.
I wish you nothing but the best!
-Kyndra Wells, Personal Lines Underwriter
Cindy has the biggest heart and cares so much for those around her. It has been a pleasure to supervise her as well as work alongside her over the years.
I know Cindy has been counting down the days to retirement, talking about what hobbies she will pick up and how she will spend all of her free time. I know a lot of that time will be spent with her little fur baby Roxy.
I wish her health and happiness in her retirement. She will be greatly missed here at the Bureau.
