One of the earliest entries in Grant's journal was about looking forward to the day he could retire. That was recorded three years into the job in 1982.

Grant started his Farm Bureau Insurance agency in Preston in 1979. He’s been counting the years until his retirement ever since. 2022 marks his 44th year working in the same office building helping Franklin County customers protect what matters most. Grant had many good relationships with his fellow employees and especially with his clients.

Grant’s priorities show through when he describes his priorities: To show off his 13 grandchildren and his five children, including a son from the military officer’s base in Colorado. There’s no doubt Grant loves his posterity and enjoys his family.

Grant has known Farm Bureau longer than he’s known his wife, Patty. The company has been a part of their lives every day for over 42 years. One of their first dates was attending the annual Farm Bureau banquet (and they’ve only missed one since then). Their future plans include time working for their church and actively showing gratitude to God for their many blessings.

Grant’s Farm Bureau career has given him many memories over the years. Some that he recalls include company trips that took him and Patty “to places we never would’ve gone, which expanded our perspective of the world and created great memories to reflect on through the years.” He has also enjoyed meeting agents from all over the United States. Grant says he has “worked with a lot of good people and loves his Farm Bureau Family.” Some of the other “many memorable experiences that go with the job” include helping clients after hay or residential fires, and delivering death benefits to bereaved clients. “I’ve learned a lot over the years about working, service, and life!” Grant says. During his career, Farm Bureau Insurance grew from $20 million to $500 million, and his book of business grew from $200,000 to $3 million.

Grant and his family appreciate “the loyal friendship” of his office secretary, Maxine Waddoups, who started at Farm Bureau a year before Grant. “Both of us took care of the office and the people in Franklin County. We went through some good and bad times. On the fun side were family activities like wrapping Christmas presents on the big tables in the back room, and hiding them behind the office door. Our kids could never figure out where their presents were, and feared they weren’t getting anything. We also had office Christmas parties when our kids were little where Santa showed up. Maxine and my wife also worked together on other projects and Federation activities. So many community events sponsored by the Farm Bureau people have added good memories to our family story.”

Grant's last day as a Farm Bureau Insurance agent is Friday, September 30. Please join us in thanking Grant for his dedicated service and congratulating him on his well-deserved retirement. A reception for Grant will be held on Tuesday, October 4, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Benson Park Pavilion next to the Preston office.

NOTES FROM GRANT'S COWORKERS

We have known Grant for many years and will always be thankful to him for introducing us to Farm Bureau as agents.

There is no one else like Grant. He always had our office laughing and his clients loved him. He will be greatly missed at the Preston office.

Three Hundred and Thirty One - we will sure miss giving you a hard time and all the whatevers.

Grant Moses is one of those long time Farm Bureau agents known in his community as the guy who provides insurance. I wouldn’t be surprised if you ask some of his clients the name of their insurance company they’d say something like, “I think it’s Farm something, but Grant Moses is my agent and he takes care of me.” I expect more people in Preston recognize the name “Grant Moses“ than “Napoleon Dynamite.”

Farm Bureau owes much of its growth and retention to agents across the state who, like Grant, have developed relationships with their clients and consider them friends

Grant, I’ve enjoyed our association over the years. Congratulations on a job well done. I hope you have a long and happy retirement. You deserve it.

-Lex Heyer, former Vice President of Sales (retired)

We are grateful for Grant’s dedication to Farm Bureau Insurance over an extraordinary career spanning 44 years.

Grant has become an institution in Preston by putting his clients first and building lasting relationships with them. The company has benefited for many years from Grant’s hard work, and because multiple generations of people in Franklin County hold him in such high regard, will continue to benefit for many more years.

Thank you Grant, for helping build Farm Bureau Insurance into the company it is today.

-Chuck McDaniel, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Having grown up in Franklin County myself, Grant has been the face of Farm Bureau for most of my life. He has dedicated four decades of his life to building the Farm Bureau brand and protecting what matters most to the farms, families and businesses of our community.

I’m grateful for his dedicated service and commitment.

-Vance Nielsen, District Manager, Southeast Idaho

Grant started with Farm Bureau Insurance before his older brother (the original Moses) parted the Red Sea. Back in those days, the Squire application consisted of two pages hooked together, one white and another canary with a piece of carbon paper between, all hand written.

Grant has served the people in Franklin County well and will be missed by many.

Through the years we have done "All Stars" (what is known today as "All American") trips and Farm Bureau of Idaho trips all over the place.

Grant has always had the best interests of his clients in first place and – if you have ever been to a company meeting – you have seen that in action.

The two of us have had countless phone conversations about every aspect of our business with a determination to do better and be more productive.

I wish Grant well and hope that retirement finds him happy, healthy and with a big smile on his face. Good luck Grant.

-Rhett Price, Agent, Soda Springs

Wow! What can I say about Grant Moses and working with him for the last 42 years?

During our time working together we saw some major changes in the insurance industry and Farm Bureau. I remember him selling life insurance with a Computone and figuring rates for property and casualty with a calculator and a little old rate book. Fast-forward to computers that scared us; we always thought we would break them or mess something up, but Grant finally got used to them and they did make our jobs easier.

We had so many experiences and interactions with clients that they eventually became close friends. Grant totally took care of his customers and was involved in a lot of community service activities. He was in the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary. Grant and Pat also did the Rodeo Queen Contest dinner for many years. He was also very active in his church callings, raised five wonderful kids, and has the best wife. Our kids are close to the same age and their families are like our families.

We had a lot of fun together, sad times together, and angry times together - but, by the end of the day we were still friends.

It was great working with Grant for so many years and working with Farm Bureau. I wish Grant and Pat the best in retirement.
