LeAnn McCurdy, CSR in the Burley office, will retire on November 25 after 22 years of dedicated service.

By LeAnn McCurdy

I began working for Farm Bureau full time in 1998 as a secretary in the Burley office. Prior to that I had been a fill-in secretary for the secretaries when they took vacation.

I have enjoyed my time with Farm Bureau assisting our customers whether on the phone or in person. I have also loved working with the various agents, CSRs, and claims adjusters in the Burley office, and employees at the Home Office. I consider the Burley office and people I worked with as my second home and family, and will miss them all more than I can say.

I have seen a lot of changes at Farm Bureau, from typing transmittals on triple carbon copies and waiting for a courier to pick up our paperwork daily, to now uploading most documents into PolicyCenter. We also used to receive packages from the Home Office each day with stacks of paperwork that needed to be delivered to the agents and then filed. The Home Office used to be in the old Block's building in Pocatello, and that is where I had my first secretary training. Even though learning new systems has been challenging at times, the technology makes the work more efficient.

I grew up in Idaho and love the out-of-doors. I enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and gardening in the warmer weather. I love to can produce from my garden and small orchard. In the colder weather, I like to sew and quilt and craft. I have enjoyed raising our family in Idaho and have four children, three of which still live close with most of my grandchildren.

I will be taking my secretarial skills on to work at the Minidoka Middle School district for a time, and am looking forward to having more time in the summer to be with my husband, Dustin, and my children and grandchildren, and enjoying some more time hiking, camping, and fishing with them.

I am thankful for the time I have spent with Farm Bureau and wish the best to all my coworkers and the company in the future.

NOTES FROM LEANN'S COWORKERS

I have known LeAnn for a pretty long time. In fact, she was the one who asked me if I would be interested in being a fill-in at the Burley Farm Bureau office many years ago. Then she taught me everything she could so I could succeed. She is fun and a very hard worker. She is always up for going the extra mile for the agents and others in the office. She is very compassionate and looks for things she can do to ease anyone’s way.

One funny memory. One day, she stepped away from her desk to do something, and Kristi, Eli, and I decided it would be funny to change the clock – forward it an hour from 3:30 to 4:30. When she came back to her desk, she looked at the clock and really panicked thinking she wasn’t going to make it to the bank on time. As she tried to shift into high gear to get things done, Kristi and I just sat there giggling, until she finally looked at her watch and realized what we had done. That was only one of many fun memories I have of working with LeAnn for the past many years.

I will truly miss her and I wish her the very best as she moves forward to a new adventure in her life.

-Janell Ahern, CSR, Burley

Thank you for everything you have done for me and all of our customers.  You are the first person a customer meets when they come in, and you have formed great relationships with a lot of customers; they are going to miss you.

I have always  appreciated your willingness to help me, even when you have a stack of things to get done.

I will miss not seeing you every day. Stop by and see us. Enjoy the next chapter!

-Gary Bliss, Agent, Burley

LeAnn will be greatly, greatly missed by everyone in our office. She made me feel welcome in the Burley office from the first day I started working there, over a year ago. She is always willing to jump in and help with anything that needs done and has been a lot of help to me. Her humor always keeps me laughing. She is a great co-worker and has become an even greater friend.

-Autumn Grubaugh, CSR, Burley

It was a sad day when I received the letter from LeAnn letting me know that she had made a life-changing decision and had decided to retire, but as I thought about her retirement I became truly happy for her, as it is a new and wonderful beginning.

LeAnn has served Farm Bureau proudly for the last 22 years. She was the kind voice on the phone and the smile as you came through the front doors. To me she was the “face” of Farm Bureau. I am honored to have gotten to know LeAnn throughout the years, and I am proud that I became her co-worker and friend.

I remember our former “boss” always bragging on what a great employee LeAnn was and, I want to tell you, he was not wrong. She was the type of employee I strived to become.

LeAnn, I wish you farewell to this chapter in your life and wish you great happiness in the new adventure that awaits. You will be greatly missed.

-Betty Inskeep, Customer Experience Supervisor, Burley

LeAnn McCurdy has been a joy to work with over the many years we have worked together. I have enjoyed her professionalism in our office along with the pleasant manner she greets our customers and employees. She always made the customer and everyone who came into the office feel valued with her smile and kind words.

I have learned a lot about customer service and getting the job completed right to ensure customer satisfaction from her. I have also enjoyed our friendship we have developed over these years and look forward to this friendship in the years to come.

I wish her the very best and will greatly miss her in our office.

-Jerry Neil-Andersen, Claims Representative, Burley

I would just like to say that I have worked with LeAnn the entire time that she worked for Farm Bureau.

LeAnn has been great to work with has been a tremendous help to me and all of us in this office; her work ethic is as good as it gets.

She has been an awesome CSR and she will be greatly missed.

-Dave Nevarez, Agent, Burley
