Peggy Moore, Member Services Assistant for the Federation, will retire on December 31 after over 35 years of service.

By Peggy Moore

I began working for Farm Bureau Federation on April 1, 1986. Before I started with Federation, I worked part-time and eventually full-time for the insurance company in their in-house printing department.

It’s hard to believe I have worked at Farm Bureau for 35+ years.

I was born in the Oakley Basin. We moved to Burley when I was 12. I graduated from Burley High school in 1971. In 1973, I married Randy and we have two children. Our daughter lives in Las Vegas (and they have two children) and our son lives in Bozeman (and they have three children). So now with retirement we will be able to spend more time with them.

Over these 35 plus years at Farm Bureau, I have been grateful for all the wonderful people I've met and friends I've made along the way. It has been a pleasure working here because of these people.

I’m looking forward to retirement. It is a big step. Maybe now I might be able to get caught up on some of my craft projects that need to be finished.

We also like to camp, so we will do more of that. Plus, just relaxing and being able to do what we want to do when we want to do it.

COMMENTS FROM PEGGY'S COWORKERS

Peggy Moore is a dear friend of mine and I could write chapters praising her. She is one of those people who never ask to be out front in the spotlight but is behind the scenes making everything happen. She helped run the Young Farmers & Ranchers program and went through multiple coordinators. She and her husband were the glue that help hold it together all those years.

Peggy is also a great person to be interested in others. She would always ask about our kids and what they were doing. You can talk to her about anything. Put simply, Peggy is just a quality human being and a wonderful friend.

When she told me she was retiring, I was sad but so excited for her and Randy. You will see the two of them cruising down the interstate on their motorcycle going to amazing places. Best of luck to you, Peggy and Randy!

-Joel Benson, Director of Information, Idaho Farm Bureau Federation

Peggy is my work person. She is the person I go to when I’m excited about something happening. She’s the person that I go to when I have questions. She’s the person I go to when I’m frustrated and need to vent. She has been there to laugh with me and even to cry with me a couple of times. She is my work person.

I’m truly going to miss her telling Zak to quit poking the bear when he gets Sean riled up and our countless hours of work during the IFBF Annual Meeting. I’m not gonna lie, her walking out the door at the end of the year is a bit scary. So much knowledge is walking out of the door with her. I think each one of us in the Federation is going to feel it deeply.

I know that Peggy and Randy are going to have the most fun in their combined retirement with visiting family, camping, and just having time to do whatever they want, and eventually I will be happy for her too.

Love your guts Peggy!

-Cara Dyer, Executive Assistant, Idaho Farm Bureau Federation

Working with Peggy Moore has been such a blessing.

Those of you who know Peggy knows she doesn’t ever want the limelight and prefers to work behind the scenes! She takes care of all the little details and by so doing makes everyone else look good. If you ever needed someone to confide in, she was there.

There are hundreds of volunteers that went through the Young Farmer and Ranchers program who were helped by Peggy. She and Randy would go the extra mile to make sure that YF&R members felt welcome. She would spend hours buying food and snacks for the YF&R Hospitality Room. Now, as many of those YF&R members are older, they will come and give her a big hug!

Peggy was the one to help you register for the American Farm Bureau Conventions. When in doubt of what you needed, she would pick up the phone and make sure you were registering for what you wanted.

Over the past 10 years, she has kept me lined out from working with counties on resolutions to planning major events. I don’t know how I would have ever made it this far without her. She has been there to gently remind me of things I may have forgotten or needed to be working on. I will miss her telling me no, sometimes - hell no!

She cares about people and loves the Idaho Farm Bureau. Peggy will be greatly missed. Even though she admits to not liking change, we hope she enjoys retirement!
