Peggy Sorensen Retires After 21 Years
"On your retirement, I want to let you know that it has been a privilege to have you on my team."
-David Acevedo, Vice President of Human Resources and Operations
June 15, 2023

Operations employee Peggy Sorensen will retire on June 30, 2023, after over 21 years of service.
When did you begin working at Farm Bureau?
I started working for Farm Bureau on March 11, 2002. I was able to be a part of the move to this new building.
I worked in the Sales department for 17 years, one year under Dave Lehman and the rest for Lex Heyer.
What were some highlights about working for Farm Bureau?
I think the thing I enjoyed most while working in the Sales department was working with the agents.
I’ve worked in the mailroom for almost the past four years. The mail room highlights would have to be the great people I’ve worked with.
I also enjoyed helping with the Salute to Idaho Veterans events.
Tell us a little bit about your life outside of Farm Bureau.
I was born and raised in Chubbuck. I graduated from Highland High School and attended Ricks College.
After marrying my husband I moved to Swan Lake and have lived there since.
I would have to say my greatest accomplishment would be being married to my absolute best friend nearly 44 years. We met on a blind date. We are the parents to one son and three daughters, and grandparents to 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild
What are your retirement plans?
I’m going to love not driving my hour commute to and from work - especially during the winter on slick roads.
I hope to be able to spend more time with my grandchildren and save loads of money by not having to fill the gas tank in my car every three days.
Retirement will also give me more time to work in my garden, raspberry patch, and flower beds.
NOTES FROM PEGGY'S COWORKERS
Congratulations.
It’s hard to believe it has been over 20 years of working for Farm Bureau.
I appreciate your positive and pleasant demeanor day in and day out.
Over the years, you have always been willing to help others and step in when projects need done.
On your retirement, I want to let you know that it has been a privilege to have you on my team.
I wish you the best.
-David Acevedo, Vice President of Human Resources and Operations
Peggy and I worked together in the Sales Department for several years, and it was always a pleasure.
She graciously accepted any assignment, and there was quite a variety of assignments. In addition to her administrative responsibilities like processing the paperwork for new agents, she picked up and prepared lunches for countless new agent schools and agent meetings. This was all in addition to keeping me on track which I’m sure was probably one of her biggest challenges.
It would be interesting to know how many miles she traveled, driving from Swan Lake every day in all kinds of weather. [Please see Josh's comments below.] I don’t recall there ever being a problem with her being late or not being able to make it to work.
She is a very kind, giving and selfless person.
Peggy, congratulations on a job well done. I hope you have a long and happy retirement and get to enjoy doing some things you would like to do.
-Lex Heyer, former Vice President of Sales (Retired)
Peggy was pretty much the face of Idaho Farm Bureau Insurance for many years at company events like Statewide and the Salute because she was professional, kind, hardworking, reliable - someone who represented our values very well. Everyone liked Peggy.
Thank you for all your invaluable help over the years Peggy. It's been a pleasure working with you. Congratulations!
-Mike Myers, Senior Marketing Specialist
As I sit down and type out these words, I can hardly believe the time has come for you to embark on a new chapter in your life.
It is my privilege to wish you Congratulations on your retirement. It is well deserved.
You have been a pleasure to work with for the past five years.
As you embark on this new chapter of life, I have no doubt that you will find joy and fulfillment in what is next for you (as well as countless raspberries in your garden).
As you have worked at Farm Bureau for 21 years, it is time for you to relax and focus on you and your wonderful family and especially those grandkids.
On behalf of the entire team, I extend my warmest congratulations once again on your retirement.
It has been a joy working with you.
The doors will always be open.
-Lance Smith, Building Systems Manager
Congratulations Peggy!
Using my limited math skills, I estimate you have driven over half a million miles commuting from Swan Lake to Pocatello for 21 years.
I wish you the best in retirement and, hopefully, less time on the road.
-Josh Stuart, Director of Human Resources
