The spirit of “Good. Better. Best.” was on full display at this year’s Statewide sales conference. It was reflected in the over 50 awards presented, evident in the insightful breakout session discussions, and embodied in the over 300 Farm Bureau agents, employees, and guests who attended. Dr. Rick Rigsby, the Statewide 2020 motivational speaker, even commented on it, saying:
“‘Good. Better. Best.’ is about executing the basics with excellence. Think about your grandparents and your parents. They executed the following with common sense - they told the truth, they did what they said they were going to do, they were respectful of people, they looked out for their neighbors. As I read Farm Bureau’s mission and vision statements, and as I look around me today, I see these values reflected in this room.”
A sense of excitement about Farm Bureau’s future was also apparent.
“I’m confident we’re headed in the right direction,” said the agent recognized as Agent of the Year, Kendon Perry. “The transparent communication and detailed goals outlined at Statewide present options for our company to grow, to profit, and for the agents to thrive.”
Agent Perry Shank from Jerome had similar takeaways. “Todd has everyone in mind as a team in his plans to right this ship,” Perry said. “It sounds like the things we’ve been trying to accomplish for a while will now happen. Todd’s vision and the details he outlined to achieve it make the future look bright.” Perry added that everyone he talked to at Statewide felt the same. “They have a new attitude. They’re excited about the future.”
Another agent excited about the future was the Rookie of the Year award winner, Jake Andrus. “I enjoyed hearing Todd and Chuck explain the new direction we’re taking,” Jake said. “It will be good for everybody – agents, employees, and our clients.”
Chuck McDaniel, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, highlighted another positive aspect of the event – comradery. “Meeting agents in person and hearing their feedback firsthand is an important part of Statewide. We believe that a great relationship between the Home Office and agents can only positively impact our future success.”
Dr. Rigsby closed out his presentation by relating the impact the event left on him. “We’ve forgotten the basics in our glamorous 21st century way of life. We’d rather be liked by a bunch of strangers on an electronic device than do something that could help our neighbor. Farm Bureau hasn’t forgotten the basics. Farm Bureau is one of the last bastions of service in the United States of America. And that’s why I love this group."
